Biogeographic distribution

Linckia multifora
is globally distributed in the world’s tropical and temperate coral reefs. It is particularly abundant in the Indo-West Pacific where it is one of the most dominant sea star species (indicated by the darker red colour on the map above Australia) (Williams, 2000). In the Southern Hemisphere, it has been found as far south as Sydney, Australia.

The map below shows the distribution of the genus Linckia. The black dots indicate where Linckia multifora has been found in addition to the red and yellow distribution. This map was adapted from the Encyclopedia of Life (<http://eol.org/pages/4704716/overview>)
